Under California state guidelines, any individuals who are over 65 years of age or 16 to 64 year of age with severe health conditions may schedule for a COVID-19 vaccine.  However, vaccine misinformation has plagued the nation causing hesitancy and potentially affecting innocent lives. Most recently, over 4,500 Santa Clara residents missed their vaccination appointments. According to the California vaccination dashboard, only 55% individuals above the age of 65 are vaccinated. Case rate for Pacific Islanders is 31% higher than statewide.

With our theme of “Active Allyship” this year, we would want to provide resources to the underrepresented community especially those who are mono-lingual to bring awareness and truth behind the COVID-19 vaccine. Asian Leaders Alliance is working with Stanford Health to help mobilize accurate information within the community. This coming weekend, Stanford Health will be offering a virtual town hall event for Mandarin and Cantonese speakers. Any ERG members or allies with parents, grandparents, aunties or uncles who are stubborn or refused to take the COVID vaccine—this will be the perfect opportunity to set them straight on the facts. ALA will continue to work with Stanford on providing translated language within the Asian diaspora, especially Southeast Asian and Pacific Islanders.
