In Partnership with Oracle Professional Asian Leadership (OPAL)

Proceeds benefit the Very Asian Foundation, a national 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to shine a light on Asian experiences through advocacy and celebration. https://www.veryasianfoundation.org/

No matter what field you work or volunteer in, there is a lot of  value in being able to tell a story and present your ideas concisely and effectively. As a community, the more we create spaces to share, the more we can grow in our own voices and the collective of our community voices.

Hear from a local journalist Gia Vang on how to pitch your ideas effectively and practice the art of storytelling in a low pressure, fun environment of peers.

 Our Speaker:
Gia Vang is an Emmy-award winning television news journalist with more than 15 years of experience in markets across the country.  She is the first news anchor of Hmong descent in a major news market.  She is the daughter of Hmong refugees from Laos.  Gia grew up in Sacramento and graduated from Sacramento State with a degree in journalism.  She is also the co-founder of the Very Asian Foundation, a non-profit that seeks to shed light on Asian experiences through advocacy and celebration.  The movement was sparked after fellow journalist Michelle Li shared a racist voicemail on social media.  Gia currently resides in the Bay Area.
