UPDATE:

Due to a technical glitch on our part, we will be unable to present tonight's workshop and will be rescheduling to a later date. So sorry for any inconvenience.

You or your loved one just got diagnosed with cancer. After the initial shock sinks in, now what do you do? Where can you go for support? What options are available to you? You've heard about clinical trials - who has trustworthy information that doesn't involve a shady clinic in another country?

Even more important - how do you make your voice heard regarding how you or your loved one's care is managed?

OUR SPEAKERS

Roji Oyama will share his heart-breaking experience as he faced these questions when his partner Kengi Shim was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. He became a staunch advocate for patient rights.

Danielle Peterson is an Ovarian Cancer Counselor with Clearity Fouondation. Clearity strives to improve the survival and quality of life of women with ovarian cancer, and to give hope to women with ovarian cancer and their families. Danielle joined the Clearity team in 2021 as an OC Counselor and began her role as the Director of Education in 2023. The majority of Danielle’s social work career has been helping people find their way through a cancer diagnosis. Danielle has worked at the local and national levels with non-profit organizations that serve people of all ages affected by cancer. Along with her work at Clearity, Danielle teaches in the Division of Social Work at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

As we head into Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we wanted to recognize World Ovarian Cancer Day (May 8).  For every new member who joins NAAAP San Jose when  they register for this event, NAAAP San Jose will donate 25% of our membership fee to the Clearity Foundation. Join the Teal Revolution! Click to Donate.
